I met Tony Cox of  in the fall of 2007.  As Chief Real Estate Officer for a development company in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, he led the acquisition of the brokerage where I served as the Marketing Director.  Knowing his company had thousands of undeveloped land in their portfolio, of course I hit him up about hunting opportunities.  It was during that initial visit I learned of his passion for hunting and an upcoming trip to south Texas.

“I saw the most bucks I have ever seen.”

When a hunter hears the words “South Texas”, visions of multi-stickered racks and thick-necked bucks go bounding through our minds.  For Tony, that’s pretty much how it played out in real life,  ”I saw the most bucks I have ever seen.  I saw the biggest one I ever saw and missed the biggest one I ever saw.”

During he took this fine 8-point (for you Northerners, that’s a 4×4).  Tony said it was about average among the bucks that were harvested during his hunt, but still dreams of what could have been with the missed buck, “It was operator error, not the rifle. (The one I shot) was middle of the road….the larger bucks were really nice deer.”
