*For the readers from Carolina, “cock” refers to pheasant and there’s no better place for pheasant than the Dakotas. But we’re not talking cock today, just bucks…..
Doubletough contributor Bubba Enget passed this along of his friend Stewart from Williston, North Dakota:
I put a lot of miles on my boots and really didn’t see to many nice deer this year. This was one of the nicest I could find.
We’ll hang on to the exact location, just in case Stewart plans on hitting the same spot next year. Check out another photo after the jump….

Congratulations to Clyton, a friend of Cevey Pennington of Colorado. This was his first mule deer and a darn nice one at that.
Thanks to Aaron Enget for sending this in!

This one made the rounds back in early ‘08 with the subject “Pending new world record from Mexico”. The actual story is that it was shot way back on January 9, 2005 and is indeed an SCI world record, but is #2. More on that in a minute.
This buck was taken by Jason Gisl and scored 221 3/8″ according to SCI standards. It was taken in Hermasillo, Mexico with guide Chad Smith and outfitter Agustin Hurtado. Inside spread was 32 1/8.
Jason’s buck was the world record for eleven months until Rick Lamb took a muley in Sonora, Mexico measuring 222 5/8″.
More photos of Jason’s trophy and the reigning world records after the jump.

Spooky things happen around cemeteries but this one from a couple years ago is downright strange. A young non-typical mule buck failed to clear the fence of the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming and wound up somewhat impaled, unable to free himself.

When time and money are at a minimum, making the most of a hunting trip is critical. Ted Stoney of Charleston, South Carolina did just on an ‘07 trip to Wyoming. Bagging pheasant, pronghorn and a muley always provide stories for the campfire and these trophies didn’t disappoint. See more photos after the jump. Read more…

No details on this brute but from the looks of it, I’d say Arizona or New Mexico. If you know anything about this buck, let us know in the Comments!

With our full limit of cock, er, pheasant, in the bag, the four of us headed due north from Onida, South Dakota to White Earth, North Dakota. This wasn’t to long after the big snowstorm in western North Dakota so despite our expectations of huge snowbanks and tough ground to hunt, it turned out to be not so bad. That is, if 14-degree temperatures and 40mph winds are not “so bad”. Read more…
