I don’t typically read those really long emails that come through my mailbox but this one had just the right mix of explosions, Dukes of Hazzard references and similarities to my own childhood that I thought it would be entertaining. Enjoy your Super Sunday!
Thanks to Doubletough member Aaron Enget.
(Original author) This was sent to me in an email from an old shootin buddy who asked I attribute it anonymously. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time. Hope you guys get a charge out of it too. lol
Around age 10 my dad got me a really cool present … one of those little badass compound bow beginner kits. Of course, the first month I went around our place sticking arrows in anything that could get stuck by an arrow. Did you know that a 1955 40 horse Farmall tractor will take 6 rounds before it goes down? Tough sumbich.

There is nothing more endearing than the twinkle of a tear in a grown man’s eye as he admires the largest buck ever to cross his property on a day when his wife told him to get the kids out of the house…..
That’s probably not quite how this went down and I’m sure McKenzie’s father, Phil Barker, was quite proud of her when she knocked down this grand buck. That’s right he’s happy for her. Tickled pink. Proud papa. What’re you laughing at?!
Hey Phil, wonder what it would score?
Thanks to Beach Billy for sending in this photo!

Here’s one that’s making the rounds this season and with no luck confirming the story, it undoubtedly remains an impressive buck.
Here are some early photos of a great deer taken during the youth hunt this year. This buck green scores 203 Typical, NET, not gross. If so, this would place this buck in the top Three typical all time in Wisconsin , and that includes the great Jordan Buck at 207 that was world record for decades. These pictures were taken in front of the Cabala’s store in Prairie du Chien. The hunter shown in the Picture a 15 year old Williams’s boy from Millville , WI the deer was shot between Millville and Woodman the buck was shot with a rifle during the youth Hunt in early October. This deer has 16 inch tines. The manager at Cabelas Offered him $25,000 on the spot the day the pictures were taken. Cabela’s offer included making a replica set of antlers that look identical to the originals and the hunter would be able to keep the cape. The boy and his father turned down that offer. The manager then called the Cabelas headquarters in Nebraska and immediately got permission to offer the boy $61,000 for the rack. He still said no. Writers and photographers from various deer magazines descended on Wisconsin to see the deer so I’m sure you will see more about this buck in the upcoming days and Woodman. The buck was shot with a rifle during the youth hunt in early October.
There are a couple more photos of this great buck and fortunate young hunter. If you know anything about them, please let us know in the Comments!

Doubletough contributor Ceth Land sent in this photo of his daughter after she knocked down her first deer ever. After getting through my amazement, my college buddy let me know hers was a doe, not this bruiser that happened to be at the processor when they dropped hers off. The 12-point was taken somewhere near Manning, South Carolina.
Another photo after the jump.

PT Ingle harvested his first deer a few years ago, this 85 pound 10 point. The son of Gene Ingle of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, PT was hunting with a family friend. PT’s grandfather is Paul Ingle, a yacht broker in Wrightsville, and friend of my own Dad. A proud moment all around!

I’m on the road to South Dakota to meet up with Aaron Enget, Director of Rodeo Adminstration for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and John Tripp, whom I also worked with during my PRCA days. The Doubletough gang have hunted for years, chasing elk, bison, deer and cheap beer. John introduced his son Jack to hunting on an antelope hunt two years ago and it won’t be long before he’ll be tagging along on our annual adventures.

Bladen County is in the southeastern region of North Carolina and is a great area for deer. This buck was taken from a stand by an 11 year old boy from Clayton, NC. The story has it he and his father were hunting off a field near Clarkton, NC and when it walked out, the man gave his son his 30-30 to give him a chance at his first deer. The boy did not let him down!
The buck weighed in at 160 pounds, had 21 scoreable points, a drop tine, split brow tines and some other junk contributing to a 189 5/8 non-typical score. Read more…
