Robert Dunn knew what he was looking for and was willing to wait on just the right bull elk, even when faced with opportunities any hunter would be happy to simply see, much less have a shot on. Jim Mullins of Mullins Outfitters announced this week that Dunn, winner of their 2008-2009 Arizona Big Game Super Raffle bagged this 400-class monster after two weeks of rigourous scouting with the Mullins staff.
“In the process of relocating certain bulls during the hunt, Robert had the opportunity to pass up several 370-395 class buls and held firm in his decision to hold out”, said Mullins in an email to friends of Mullins Outfitters. Dunn’s family accompanied him on the trip and included his son Jake, nephew Clint and grandson, Caden. Acknowledging the front tines looked “weak, but the mass and extra length on the tops were enough to put this bull in the 400 class”, Dunn initiated the pursuit.
After a mile-long stalk, Robert Dunn’s bull was eventually measured with 66.5″ of mass, 24″ G4 tines and G3 tines over 21″.
