Yup, I said North Dakota. This black bruin showed up about a half mile north of Hannover, or 20 miles north of New Salem, way up in the northwest portion of the state. I’ve been there a couple times and it doesn’t strike me as bear country, but there are a lot of coolies and such for a bear to hide.
This particular bear was seen wandering along a rural road and strolled right through a farmstead, to the surprise of the photographer, landowners and local sheriff.

Finding a tree to tree him with hounds would be interesting!
Tom’s right. It would be a little tough on the dogs to try to run him with hounds. Spot and stalk would be fairly easy though.
