His Buddies Call Him Arrowhead

Chip August 8, 2008 Deer, Featured

This Doubletough buck was taken by a muzzleloader near Sidney, Nebraska.  The story is from 2004 and begins with a local hunter who told his hunting buddy about a deer with an arrow through its head.  The next time the two hunted together, the deer appeared well out of shooting distance but clearly enough to confirm that it indeed had some extra headgear.

The very next morning the buddy was in the same tree stand and shortly after sun up, ol’ Arrowhead stepped out just thirty yards from where he sat.  The hunter knocked him down and after closer observation, believes the deer had been carrying that arrow for a couple months.

That’s pretty cool. I saw an elk last season with an arrow sticking out of his forehead. He seemed to be getting along just fine. Would have liked to have gotten him. He was a big ‘un.
