A grisly scene from this past April provides an in-your-face account of survival within Yellowstone National Park. The photo was taken by an an employee of the park in the Fountain Flats area, between the Madison Junction and Old Faithful. At the time the shot was taken, the bison was estimated at 1600 pounds and the grizzly bear at 800, however a park biologist says those initial estimates may be high.
