Big Hopes For Opening Day

Chip July 30, 2008 Deer

I mentioned putting the bow in the game this year and over the weekend I put my tree climber through a dry run, along with a new Hunter Safety Systems harness.  I can’t say enough about the harness;  the climber came with a mess of straps and loops that pretty much intimidated me right out of the tree.  I picked up the Hunter Safety System vest after checking it out at Bass Pro Shops towards the end of last season.  It takes all the guesswork out of this critical piece of safety equipment and gives me great confidence when I head up the tree.  Now I can concentrate on the task at hand, like this big 21-pointer arrowed by Michael Almand of Madison, Georgia.  My buddy, we’ll call him Beach Billy, let me know about this harvest since it happened on his hunting club in 2006.  The same day two other Pope & Young deer were shot, one scoring 123 and the other 145.
