The term “doubletough” was coined during my first elk hunting trip. My friend Aaron told the story of “this guy coming down the mountain riding a grizzly bear, over’n and under’n him with a rattlesnake.” The story ended with the ol’ boy telling a cowboy he had met, “I gotta make tracks. There’s a doubletough motherf*cker coming right behind me.” What could possibly be tougher than a guy on a grizzly bear, over’n and under’n him with a freakin’ rattlesnake?!
